Sometimes the most talented acts are next to your doorstep and you don’t even know it. This is certainly the case with the Ghent-based hip hop orchestra Fatback Brass Band. The ten-strong band has been around for a couple of years and they released their first EP in the beginning of March. On this EP they bring together underground hip hop and New Orleans Jazz. I must say, I’m impressed. The project also includes some features. On ‘Full Blast’ the orchestra is joined by West-Flemish rapper/reggae artist Saimn-I. On ‘You Better Wait’, the standout track of the EP, they are assisted by Ghent’s very own soulsongstress Lize Accoe aka Liz A Ku and the talented trumpeter Sam Vloemans. This song will have you on your feet in no time. Belgian music lovers should keep an eye on this band. Enjoy!
