Smooth Sundays: Billie Black – I Don’t Need Another Lover

I found out about this artist a few days ago while scrolling trough Soundcloud. Billie Black is a 19 year old singer/songwriter from West London. She began singing at an early age after hearing reggae, soul and disco records at her mother’s family parties. At the young age of 14 Black headed off to the Brit School, where she was exposed to a wide variety of music and it was towards the end of her time there that she started listening to James Blake, Jessie Ware, Sampha and emerging R&B crooner Kwabs; all acts who combine classic vocals with electronic production. These artists have had a big influence on the music Black is making nowadays. ‘I Don’t Need Another Lover’ is the second single off her debut EP which is expected to be released this summer. For now, have a listen to ‘I Don’t Need Another Lover’ below and have a smooth Sunday!

Ps: Billie Black will play her first headline show at Electrowerkz in London (with friend and fellow newcomer Nao) on July 15.
