Kendrick Lamar has unveiled the visuals for his self-love anthem ‘i’. The video finds Lamar doing the elbow dance as he takes a tour of a neighborhood, witnessing people experiencing serious struggles. From run-ins with the cops to attempting suicide to domestic violence, the rapper delivers his rhymes as a reminder for those around him to find inner peace and love. He eventually meets up with Ronald Isley of the Isley Brothers, whose song “That Lady” he sampled on ‘i’. Yesterday, Kendrick talked about the reasoning behind the song on Ebro In The Morning, saying that he made the record for his homies that are currently in jail and for the kids that show up to his concerts with cuts on their wrists.
Lamar is currently working on his sophomore album with the likes of Dr. Dre and Pharrell. there’s no word on when the follow up to 2012’s good kid, m.A.A.d city will drop. For now, watch K-Dot get his groove on in his uplifting ‘i’ video.
