Street artist Gijs Vanhee (31) has a somewhat different view on the evolution theory:
“Everything that lives tend to adapt to the maximum reach of its space. This mutations of monsters stand for an alternative evolution theory. Originally out of deep oceans this creatures are slowly taking over abandoned houses, bridges, places. They mutate through their existence and try to live out their maximum reach on any surface, any building, any city anywhere.” That’s how the Mechelen-based artist describes his streetart project Mutations.
The mutants can be seen in Mechelen, Antwerp, Vilvoorde, Ghent and there’s even one mural in South-Africa. I will show you my ten favourite murals of this project. If you want to see all of his works from this project check out his Flickr.
