Ever since the Antwerp Six gained international acclaim, Belgian designers have continued to impress and made a name for themselves as rappers like Kanye West and A$AP Rocky are more than often seen rocking garments by Belgian designers and name-dropping them in songs. What a lot of people don’t know is that Belgian streetwear is also on the rise. With pioneer A Cut Above paving the way, various young Belgian designers have successfully created their own streetwear brand throughout the last few years. In January Antwerp-based Arternative was selected as one of the ten brands to watch in 2015 by the reputable website Hypebeast.

About two weeks ago I discovered another exciting Belgian brand called NBMSM. Founded by fashion designer Megan Scott Manolova and graphic designer Nisrine Ben Abdeslam in 2014, the brand attempts to create a deeper fashion experience, which mixes comfort with a unique concept. Their latest collection is a mixture of vibrant design, vivid colors and innovative prints which add an urban twist to traditional sportswear.
