What started out as a small documentary about “the other black experience” has now evolved into an international festival. Yes, I’m talking about Afropunk. After celebrating the tenth anniversary of the Afropunk Festival in Brooklyn last year, the founders decided to take it overseas. The first edition of Afropunk Paris is planned to take place at Le Trianon (located in the heart of Paris) this weekend. For many of us it’s a great chance to discover emerging artists such as Lion Babe, Willow & Jaden Smith, Leon Bridges, Young Paris and Lianne La Havas while at the same time taking in the Afropunk experience. The festival will continue the Afropunk festival aesthetics, including the tradition of a cultural experience with food, live painting by local artists, an acoustic stage and much more. We made a little playlist to get you in the mood for this weekend. Enjoy.
